The Importance of Yogic Detox

Tears, sneezing, mucus, sweat, urine and feces are all nature's way of detoxification. If we can find a way to have these working in an optimum manner, we should be able to free our body and our mind of the accumulation of toxins causing diseases and various forms of addiction(food, nicotine etc).

At Nepal Yoga Retreat we offer 4 of them, Neti (nasal cleansing), Kunjal (cleansing of the stomach through regurgitation), Shankhaprakshalana (entire digestive cleansing through defecation), Kapalbhati (purification of the head through breathing)

In the Yogic Detox package, in 9 days you will be able to detoxify your whole body with the method of Shankhaprakshalana, through the practices of specific Asanas (Yoga poses) and drinking a specific amount of warm salty water. As well as other powerful detoxification techniques, less invasive such as nasal irrigation (Jala Neti), and the Stomach wash (Kunjal). These are some of the most effective techniques to improve health immunity, increase concentration and improve flexibility. What is Shankaprakshalan & Why?

Is the Hatha Method of cleansing of the entire digestive tract through Asanas, drinking warm salty water and defecation. It leaves your entire alimental canal clean of all impurities allowing a better and more effective absorption of nutrients to the blood. It takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to do and requires 2 days of rest and relaxation afterwards.
It is a method only to be attempted in an ashram or retreat under the guidance of a competent teacher such as Dr Chintamani, who has had 18 years experience in the field and has helped many individuals through this practice with success. Please see our reviews on Trip Advisor.

What is Kunjal & Why?
Kunjal is another Hatha Yoga method of purification also known as Jala Dhauti, where the entire stomach is cleansed. This is performed by drinking salt water on an empty stomach which causes the body to regurgitate through vomiting any remnants of bile or mucus left in the stomach leaving your stomach clean and new.

What is Jala Neti & Why?
Jala Neti is a nasal cleanse to remove excess mucus lodged in the nostrils. By rinsing the nostrils one by one with lukewarm salty water, the mucus is eliminated through opposite nostril. It is non invasive procedure that can be done in 5 minutes which can be done everyday. This method leaves your sinuses clear and allows better respiration which ultimately enhances your daily yoga practice.

Fasting (optional)
You are welcome to go about your day as you would do normally when fasting, just be mindful of your stamina, and fitness level as well as the weather conditions. Drink plenty of water and let the sun energize you!
